Can a locksmith unlock any car?
Most cars and vans on UK roads can be opened without breaking the glass, including keyless models. Not every vehicle, and not every lock. The limits are a lock that is already damaged, a vehicle we are not equipped for on that day, and a car you cannot show is yours. we unlock any car comes to the vehicle after we confirm we can attend. There is no call-out fee. The price is agreed before we set off. We say which limit applies before we start.
Can a locksmith unlock any make or model of car?
Hatchbacks, saloons, estates and vans. Bladed keys and keyless fobs. The cars and vans we unlock are the ones people drive in the UK. If your make is not on that list, put it on the quote form. We confirm the vehicle before you book.
What changes the job is the car in front of you:
- The make and model. Locks are not the same from one maker to the next.
- A bladed key, a remote, or keyless entry.
- Whether the lock still works, or someone has already forced it.
- Whether we are equipped for that vehicle on the day.
We will not promise every import, or a visit we have not agreed. Send the registration and the location. We say yes or no from that quote.
Can a locksmith unlock a keyless car?
Yes, in most cases. A fob on the seat, a fob in a bag, or a door handle that will not wake up, is still a lockout. Keyless does not make it a different kind of visit.
Tell us the make and model, whether it is keyless or a normal remote, and whether the key is in the cabin or the boot. If the door was already forced, or the lock will not turn, say that too. A fault is not the same as keys simply shut inside.
We come to the car. This page does not describe how a keyless car is opened.
Can a locksmith unlock a car without breaking the window?
Yes. On a working lock the door opens and the glass stays intact. That is the job. Breaking the window is not the first move, and it is not the method.
Do not force the door or push anything into it while you wait. If the lock is already damaged, read damage-free unlocking. We say what has changed before any further work.
What if the keys are in the car or the boot?
Keys on the seat, in the footwell, or shut in the boot are lockouts. Say which one it is. A boot that stays shut with the keys inside is not the same note on the form as keys in the cabin.
What to do while you wait, including a van and a person inside the car, is on locked out of your car. If a person inside is in distress, call 999. The opening itself is the locked out service.
Can a locksmith unlock a van?
Yes. A Ford Transit, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, a Volkswagen Crafter, a Vauxhall Vivaro, a Renault Trafic or an Iveco is the same kind of visit as a car. Tell us it is a van, and whether the keys are in the cab or the load area.
A company, fleet, hire or leased van needs the owner’s authority as well as your ID. Say so on the quote. Vans are on the cars and vans page. We confirm we can attend before you book.
What if the lock is already damaged?
Say so before anyone sets off. A lock that has been forced, a barrel that will not turn, or a door that is already bent is not a normal lockout. Do not keep forcing it. That makes the repair worse.
We stop and tell you what has changed. We do not move from an unlock into extra work without saying so. The detail is on damage-free unlocking.
Will you need proof the car is yours?
Yes. Photo ID, and a document that ties you to the vehicle: the V5C, an insurance schedule, a finance agreement, a hire agreement, or a fleet authority. We will not open a car for someone who cannot show a right to it.
If that paperwork is locked inside, say so on the quote form and we will tell you what we can accept on the day. A hire, lease or company vehicle also needs the owner’s authority.
What we will not promise
We will not promise every car, every damaged lock, or a time we have not agreed. Enquiries can be sent 24 hours, seven days. That is when the form is open. It is not an arrival time. Availability is confirmed before you book.
This site will not describe a method for opening a car. If it is your car, send the registration and the location. How the visit is booked is on how it works.
